The following video clip is an excerpt from a collaborative performance between the Evansville Philharmonic (Evansville, Indiana) and Mr. Bender. Their performance was part of a "color symphony" in which Mr. Bender and his then eight year old daughter, Emily, painted in rhythm to the philharmonic's rendition of Michael Torke's "Bright Blue Music." Both the artist and his daughter created their own visual symphony, reacting to the music through their use of gesture, color, and the spontaneous placement of brass instruments directly on the painting.
